A Wide Range of Grants and Schemes Available Across Yorkshire
To help homes and businesses move over to green energy and to reduce their dependency on fossil fuels, the UK government and other organisations have introduced a range of green energy grants and schemes, to reduce the financial impact of upgrading.
From means-tested schemes to 0% VAT purchases, Help4homes is able to offer advice on a selection of schemes available to you. We will discuss your energy needs in detail, before recommending the right scheme or schemes for you. Our experts will be here to help every step of the way, to ensure that your application is correct and helps you achieve the biggest savings possible.

In addition to grants and other incentives, we can also offer tailored advice on which green energy products might be best for you.
ECO4 Funding Scheme
The ECO4 funding scheme was designed to help reduce UK carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty. It is designed to help low-income homeowners (and tenants with a landlord’s permission) afford energy-efficient home upgrades and improved insulation. It is means-tested - meaning you need to receive qualifying benefits – and is for households with an EPC rating of E, F or G.

Measures include new heating systems, insulation and solar PV.

0% VAT
Homeowners are able to benefit from a 0% VAT scheme on a range of energy-efficient upgrades, such as solar and insulation. With VAT currently at 20%, this results in a substantial saving on upgrades. The scheme will operate until 31st March 2027, after which the VAT payable will move to 5%.
Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS)
Running until March 31st 2026, the GBIS aims to deliver improved home insulation to thousands of households with EPC ratings of E, F or G. A range of measures are available for free or at a reduced rate including cavity wall, loft and underfloor insulation. There are two routes depending on the property you own and your circumstances:
• Low income eligibility: available to those receiving certain means-tested benefits. Qualifies you for a single insulation measure and heating controls in some cases.
• General eligibility: must be living in a property in an A-D council tax band (in England). Qualifies you for a single insulation measure. A financial contribution may be required.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
Designed to support decarbonisation in properties, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) allows you to apply for grants to significantly reduce the costs of installing cleaner-running water heating equipment. It can be used when replacing inefficient gas/oil boilers and storage heaters. Installers will apply for the grant on your behalf, which equates to:
• £7500 for air/ground/water source heat pumps
• £5000 for biomass boilers
The scheme was recently extended until April 2028
